Adult club
The Adult Club meets every Wednesday evening in the Sports Hall, Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre at 8.00pm and plays with feather shuttles. The club enters mens, ladies and mixed teams into the Ipswich & District, and the Bury Leagues. Home matches are played on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

We are always looking for new, competitive players to join the club. If you are interested in coming along for a trial, or just want to find out more about becoming a member, please contact Dan Simpson - Club Secretary - see details on the Contact Us page

The club has six Level 1 Assistant Coaches and three Level 2 Coaches as members.

Junior club
Stowmarket Junior club was founded in October 2006 assisted by a grant from the Local Network Fund. Six members of the adult club undertook their Level 1 Coaching Award and three members successfully completed their Level 2 Coaching Award to support the juniors at the club. There are currently only five badminton clubs in the county that run a junior section!

Membership of the junior club is open to juniors of all abilities.

The only restriction that we apply is to keep the number of members low enough to ensure that they are safe when on court during the sessions and receive an appropriate amount of coaching. We currently have 40, very enthusiastic, junior members that attend our Saturday morning coaching sessions. These are divided into two groups that meet between 9.00am - 10.00am for younger / beginners and 10.15am - 12.00noon for older / experienced juniors. We also host a junior tournament annually at the end of the season with teams from other clubs invited; our tournament in 2017 saw 70+ children competing in various age groups. This year 5 or our juniors played at Milton Keynes in May in the Under 14's National Junior Leagues Finals representing Suffolk which is a great achievement. Out Junior Team also won the Abbeygate Tournament and had representatives in the Ipswich & District League Tournaments, Suffolk BA Tournaments and also Bronze Tournament. Plus two members have played in the Suffolk County Junior Squads during the season.

There is a great ethos of development within our whole badminton club and some of our juniors have gone on to become members of the county squad, representing Suffolk at tournaments and matches.  We have supported many of our juniors to transition into the adult club where it has been great to see then develop even further and strengthen the peformance of the adult club in the leagues as well as raising the general standard and participation on club nights. Several have also gone on to undertake the Level 1 Coaching Award and return on Saturday mornings to help coach our current members.

If you are interested in finding out more about this opportunity please contact Mary Hughes, our Junior Secretary - see details on Contact Us page
